How do I add overtime hours on Salary.lu?
Managing employee overtime in Salary.lu is straightforward. This FAQ explains how to record overtime hours manually or through the Excel importer, covering both paid and unpaid overtime options.
Understanding overtime types
Salary offers two types of overtime:
- Unpaid overtime hours – These hours are added to the employee's leave balance and do not appear as additional compensation on the payslip
- Paid overtime hours – These hours are calculated as additional gross salary and appear in the payslip's "Designation" section
Adding overtime hours manually
To add overtime hours for an individual employee:
- Log in to your Salary account
- Navigate to the "Presences" section
- Click the "Add" button
- Select the employee from the dropdown
- Choose the activity type:
- "Overtime hours" for unpaid overtime (added to leave balance)
- "Paid overtime" for overtime paid in the salary
- Enter the date
- Enter the start time
- Enter the end time
- Add break duration if applicable (optional)
- Click "Add Presence" to add multiple overtime entries for the same employee
- Click "Create" to save all entries
Using the Excel importer for bulk entries
For adding multiple entries or multiple periods at once:
- Navigate to the "Presences" section
- Click the three-dot menu (⋮) next to the "Add" button
- Select "Import"
- Click "Download template" to get the Excel file template
- Fill in the "events" page of the template with the required information
- Click "Choose File" and select your completed Excel file
- Click "IMPORT" to upload the file
